Why yes they are. And I went to their show this past weekend in Newark. I actually wasn’t all that excited to go but I had a friend that wanted to go badly so we went courtesy of my big brother. I should preface this with I went in with low expectations. It was definitely a show for the dirty ladies out there (Only piece I missed being backstage was seeing the ridiculousness of the audience up close). I will always remember it because it was the first show I had ever been to where I got to watch the show backstage! Anyone who knows me, knows I love a live show, so to be in the mix of it, that close to the band was fantastico for me. Hell, me and the drummer were rocking out for a minute. I was so excited! But I had to keep it together, as not to embarrass the big bro. Here’s the show break down, first Ginuwine, then Tank, then Tyrese, and then they come together. Let’s get this review started…
Ginuwine
Considering the recent performance that’s going semi-viral about Ginuwine being on drugs, (click here for crazy eyes), i thought he did a pretty good job of his performance. He sounded great, the crowd enjoyed him. First downfall of being backstage…I don’t get to see the frontal view of Ginuwine’s gyrations. Cause we all know G-money can get down with the body wave grind move. I love shows like this because you forget how many songs the artists have, that you enjoy. Even when Ginuwine was back stage for a hot second he didn’t have them crazy high eyes, so I’m not sure of the truth but I’ve got faith he isn’t hooked. Well at least the gyrations haven’t been affected. Good gracious. *fans self*
Tank
I was joking at dinner that I probably know one Tank song…I deserve. However I was incorrect. Again I had no idea this guy sang half these songs. And when I say he SANG them, dude sang the hell out of them. He was mad energetic on stage and sounded great. He didn’t have nearly as many gyrations as Ginuwine but he did take the shirt off, which for the dirty old lady in me, was glorious. What I found most interesting about him was that his 3 daughters were with him on tour, they were backstage cheering for Dad and singing along. It was quite cute. After the show I got the chance to meet Tank and his cute security dude (dirty lady alert), and guess what? Tank is fricking hilarious! He was cracking jokes, telling stories and was very nice. I felt like I stopped by his house for a bbq. Cool dude, made me like him even more.

Tyrese
He’s so Cali-fied it’s glorious! I’m not from California but I’ve got the vibe in my bones. There is something about that stinking Tyrese. Just dead sexiness. He too came out and sang his heart out. I love that he’s singing again, that last album of his was the business. He did a little crip walking but kept his clothes on. *sad face* I will say this he did a lot of talking and for those of us backstage, it was kind of hard to hear him, but the crowd seemed to be loving it.

TGT
Since their album hasn’t dropped I was curious as to what they were going to do when they came together and still keep the crowd hyped. They did a compilation of past hits in an effort to see who in the crowd was a “real fan of real R&B”. From Marvin Gaye to BBD to Jodeci, they sang different snippets of covers that were great. ! They closed the show with their single Sex never felt better. For me this show was a pleasant surprise of goodness. No one was a disgrace ala Kci and JoJo. It was well done and they all sounded good. I’m going to pick up that three Kings album when it drops. Cause I’m a dirty old lad…oops a fan of real R&B.
Who else is feeling TGT? Did you think Ginuwine was high?
I love that Tyrese is so Cali-fied. That’s what makes him so good looking to me with his singing self. I like TGT’s single so I’m interested to hear how the rest of their music sounds. Can’t wait for your Beyonce’ review so we can compare, lol
Don’t cha just love when you go in with low or no expectations and are pleasantly surprised!?! Im sure bring backstage didnt hurt! Glad you enjoyed ( good work Regina 😉
Another great and funny review. Good stuff! Thanks GP!
