My 2011 in review

I can’t believe this year is over.  It seemed to go by so fast yet I am still excited for the new year tonight!  I was thinking all morning about how I could recap the year on this blog.  I’m not really sure anyone reads it so I thought what does it matter how I do it?

Side note: I still don’t understand this blogging business.  It feels weird chatting into oblivion wondering if anyone is ever reading it.  Oh well.

So here’s what I decided, I would recap the year based on pictures.  There were good, bad, and great things that happened in 2011.  My biggest feat was biting the bullet and selling my house and downsizing.  I made the decision in 2010 to no longer be house poor and by God I did it!  I’m just regular poor now not house poor.  🙂

I’m jumping ahead…I brought in 2011 at an old and dear friends wedding in Atlanta!  We had so much fun!

I made the move to a smaller place in a new area in January.  It was a big move but I did it with the help of my friends!  Thanks again to those that helped me out.  At the end of January, one of my BFF’s produced a beautiful celebration of life event for our friend that had passed away in 2010.  I not only was blessed to be touched by Darien’s life but to also host this celebration.  You can see a video recap of the production here!

So what I don’t have a boo doesn’t mean I can’t still have a rocking Valentine’s weekend!  I went to Florida with my Chi-town homie, Coco for one of the best chillaxing girl trips ever!  Plus we had the coolest car ever.

After that it was back to ATL for a bachelorette weekend!  Another funky good time with old friends, and lots and lots of laughs!

Then it was a girls trip again, but this time in Raleigh the same weekend that they got rocked by tornadoes!  Our plan?  To go to a park in a forest to drink wine…CRAZY!  Instead we decided to drive in the tornado from the park back to the house (oblivious it was a tornado).  There aren’t really any pics of the crew of from that weekend (I’m protecting the innocent).  But beleive me…we learned alot about each other that weekend playing drinking games with no power!!!

Next up…VEGAS baby!  Dyan, writer of Passion Foodie, was getting married!  Again such fun times, and the realization that no matter how long it has been that TRUE friendship is forever!  *tear*  PLus my shoes were FIERCE.  🙂

THEN GUESS WHAT!!!!!!  I turned the big 3-5 this year!  And for those that know me, know there ain’t no way I was just going to have a regular celebration.  Of course not.  2 of my best buds had birthdays around the same time so we had a birthday celebration in Bermuda titled…3 the hard way!  Let me say this…there aren’t many photos that are approved for public consumption but I might say it was one of the best birthday weekends I have had ever!

Such a ball was had!  Thanks to everyone who came and what happens in Bermuda stays in Bermuda!  😉

Onto the summer, it was pretty lokey.  I stayed pretty local the whole time.  Went to a lot of concerts, I could list them but that would be just showing off.  But I spent the summer living my life like it was golden.  LOL. It was an interesting Summer, we discovered our wine down wednesday spot, had a road trip to Montreal

, a hurricane hit NYC, I stopped eating red meat, I finally understand my hair, I tried yoga, and didn’t quite make it to Martha’s vineyard (here’s to next year).  In September, I went home to O’Canada for a dear friend’s wedding and family time.  It was one of the best visits I have had.

I also had my first sleepover for my god daughter and her friends.  My little divas were so good, and we had so much fun.  This is what life is about…

Seriously how cute are they?  Around this time is when I started this blog!  Thanks to my cuz Jesse for suggesting/forcing me to do it.  And the rest is already documented.  This year has been about friends, family, and fun!  I had a ball in 2011.  I can’t wait to see what 2012 has on tap for me.  I thank God for all He has blessed me with this year.  the good and the bad were all for a reason, and for that I am grateful.  I’ve got big goals for 2012.  But that’s for next year!  Until then party tonight like its 1999!!!  Happy New Year!
